What gas line work covers
We locate and repair gas leaks, replace corroded or damaged sections of line, and run new lines for dryers, ranges, outdoor grills, fire pits, pool heaters, and generators.
Gas work in California has to be done by a licensed contractor, and a new or repaired line has to pass a pressure test before it goes into service. After every repair and installation we pressurize the line and confirm it holds. The result is documented and comes with your invoice.
If SoCalGas has shut off your meter, a licensed plumber has to find the leak, repair it, and pressure-test the line before the utility will turn the gas back on. That is one of the most common reasons people call us.

Gas Line Repair questions
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave immediately. Do not touch switches or use a phone inside. Call SoCalGas at 1-800-427-2200 from outside, then call us. Do not go back in until the gas company confirms it is safe.
Does gas line repair require a licensed plumber?
Yes. California requires a licensed contractor for gas repair, installation, and testing.
Can I run a gas line to a new appliance myself?
No. It takes a licensed contractor, a permit, and a pressure test before the appliance is connected. Unpermitted gas work is a safety risk and can cause trouble with insurance.
What is a gas pressure test?
The line is pressurized and watched for a set time. Any drop means a leak. Code requires it after repairs and installations, and SoCalGas requires a passed test before restoring service it shut off.
How long does gas line repair take?
A single leaking joint, fitting, or section usually takes two to four hours including the pressure test. Extensive repairs or long new runs can take a full day.
SoCalGas shut off my meter. What now?
Call us. The line has to be repaired and pressure-tested by a licensed plumber before SoCalGas restores service.
Should my gas lines be replaced or repaired?
Age and material decide it. Galvanized steel gas lines, common in homes built before the 1970s, corrode inside. If one has leaked in several places within a few years, replacing it usually costs less than repeated repairs.

★★★★★
I had an excellent experience with SoCal 1 Plumbing! Eliass came out to clear a blockage in my kitchen line by snaking it through the outside wall clean-out, and everything was done efficiently and with great care. He also installed new tubular drains under my kitchen sink to stop the leaks I’d been dealing with. The work was high-quality, and they even provided a 1-year warranty on parts and labor, which gave me peace of mind. Highly recommend their professional and reliable service!
